Stay Chords & Guitar Lesson

Welcome to my Stay chord chart by the amazing Lisa Loeb. Lovers of chick rock during the ‘90s raise your hands!

Such a great song. One of my favorites. In this tutorial, I will be going over the intro picking pattern. We will be using hybrid picking which means we will be holding the pick between our first finger and thumb while using our second and third fingers to pluck other string.

I would consider this more of an intermediate song due to the hybrid picking and the strumming pattern used. There are also some slides that will come into play in the intro as well. There really isn’t a good way to dumb down this song. It’s just that good.

Stay Strumming Patterns:

I will give you one easier strumming pattern but it does require you to switch chords on the up strum to meet the feel of the song. Instead of picking the intro, you can just strum the chords.

’Easy’ Strumming:

Am7  G
1  2  + 3 4
D D U D D

My strumming:
Am7         G
1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 e + a
D     U D    D      U DU D U DU
