How Far I'll Go Chords & Guitar Lesson

Here is my How Far I'll Go chord chart from the hit movie Moana. What a catchy little song this is.  Very fun to play and sing. This song is fairly simple up until the very last chorus where there is a key change. The whole song moves up a half step so that means all the chords move up a half step (one note) as well. Unfortunately, this ends up making the last chorus all barre chords.

You can skip the key change if you would like and play and sing it like the regular chorus but it won't sound exactly like the original song.

Capo is on the 4th fret for this song.

How Far I'll Go Strumming Patterns:

You can strum or pick the intro depending on the feel you are going for. I am putting a strumming pattern here which are a bit complicated if you dont' know 16th note strumming yet. Per usual, 4 down works fine or you could use the easy strum. The verse strumming lines up pretty with the timing of the lyrics so just you can use that as a guide.

Easier Strumming:
1  2  3+  4 +

Verse Strumming:
1 + a 2 + 3 e +  4 e + a
D   U   D    U     DU DU

Pre-Chorus Strumming: (palm muted if possible)
1 +  2+  3+ 4 +

Chorus Strumming:
1 + a   2 + a  3 + a   4 e + a

C                                                                  Dm

I've been staring at the edge of the water
                                 Am                                                     F
'Long as I can remember, never really knowing why
C                                                       Dm
I wish I could be the perfect daughter
                                               Am                                                F
But I come back to the water, no matter how hard I try

Every turn I take, every trail I track
Every path I make, every road leads back
To the place I know, where I cannot go
                Fm (hold)
Where I long to be

                 C                                                                     G
See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me
                          Am                            F
And no one knows, how far it goes
              C                                                               G
If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me
                        Am                  Fm   (hold)
One day I'll know, if I go there's just no telling how far I'll go

C                                                Dm                                                     Am
I know, everybody on this island seems so happy on this island
Everything is by design
C                                                Dm                                       Am
I know, everybody on this island has a role on this island
So maybe I can roll with mine

I can lead with pride, I can make us strong
I'll be satisfied if I play along
But the voice inside sings a different song
                Fm (hold)
What is wrong with me?

                  C                                                            G
See the light as it shines on the sea? It's blinding
                       Am                                 F
But no one knows, how deep it goes
                 C                                                                          G
And it seems like it's calling out to me, so come find me
                        Am                          F
And let me know, what's beyond that line, will I cross that line?

Chorus (key change)
                C#                                                                 G#
See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me
                       A#m                         F#
And no one knows, how far it goes
             C#                                                          G#
If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me
                      A#m                     F#m   C#
One day I'll know, how far I'll go
