Fortunate Son Chords & Guitar Lesson

Welcome to my Fortunate Son chord chart by CCR. Absolutely love CCR, they have some really great guitar songs and many of them can be played at a beginner level. Let’s all give them a clap ::enter slow golf clap::

I really love performing this song. Such great energy to it. The chords are pretty easy minus the F chord which you can always use Fmaj7 for.

There is an augmented chord in the Bridge breakdown, but I have included the tab for the lead guitar part which you shouldn’t find too tricky if you’ve done a little bit of tab work.

So let’s get to it!

Fortunate Son Guitar Chords:

Fortunate Son Strumming Patterns:

Strumming:
1  2  3   4+
D     D  DD

For a little extra spice for solo acoustic:
1 +  2+   3+   4+a
DD DD  DD  DDU

I would try an accent the one on a lot of the chords to add a very nice dynamic to the song especially if you use the flurry pattern above. Sounds so good. Don’t know how to play the flurry pattern? No problem, check out my Beginner & Intermediate Guitar Course.
