Albums are done!!!!

Hey everyone,

How's it going? I am very excited to annouce that Discmaker just shipped the finished CDs!!!!! I'm so excited to share this project with you. The band and I had a blast making it. Very special thank you to Felix Zapata, Jim Treacy, Paul Tauterouff, Lou Lombardi, and Pete Hartley. You guys did an amazing job playing on this album and I could not have done it without you. Thanks to Crickie Thomas at Shrewnshank for helping us record the drums, bass and guitar. Another big thanks to Dennis Carroll for mixing the album and adding some cool little key parts in on a couple songs. I really enjoyed working with the both of you.

The CD Release will be May 5th at Sally O'Brien's in Someville with the Porch Party Mama's and Miller English. Going to be an amazing show that start at 9pm. It's Cinco Di Mayo, so come on out and have a drink with the band. We have a fantastic show planned for you that evening.

I am now very excited to be getting ready to play at the Hard Rock Cafe in Foxwoods tonight. Should be an amazing evening.

The band and I have a lot of great shows coming up and would love to see you at one of them. Thanks for your support!

Hey everyone,

Hope you all had a great New Year. I know I am excited for 2012.

Community Auditions This Friday Jan. 6th!!!

First, I will be on Community Auditions Star of The Day performing Rose Full Of Thorns from the upcoming album. Make sure to tune in at 10:30pm on WSKB or set your DVR to record. We got some amazing feedback from the judges. No one said anything bad.

Finishing up The Album!!!

We will be finishing up tracks for the album this month. Just need th electric guitar and the violin parts. I will likely have the violin stuff by the end of this week. Fun fun fun. Can't wait to hear how everything turns out. Then I will be heading into the studio on Feb. 3rd with Dennis Carrol of 6AVMedia in Haverhill to put on the finishing touches and get evrything mixed and mastered. Woo hoo!!!!

New Album Had Started!!!! Scratch Tracks Done

Hey everyone!

It's September and everyone had gone back to school and got back into the old grind. Things are no different here for myself and the band. I went back into the recording studio yesterday to start recording for our new and upcoming album. I have not worked out a title yet, but I will keep you posted on the progress. This is going to be a 9 song album and I think it shows my growth as an artist, musician, and writer.

Drums and bass will be recorded on Oct. 7th and 8th and we will start some guitar stuff a couple weeks after that. Tentative release for this show is April 8th (my birthday). So you can bet we are going to have a big bash for that.

There are some cool shows coming up including the Rainbod Riverfest in Holyoke, MA on Sept. 24th. We also have the CD Release Fundriaser at Club Irge in Haverhill, MA on Oct 22nd. Check out the shows for details on these cool upcoming events.

Getting Ready To Record The New Album

How is everyone doing? The weather is getting warmer and it's a great time of year for some music. Hope you all had a wonderful fourth of July as well.

I will be heading in the studio with Dennis Carol of 6AVMedia to record some new tracks. That's right, new recording, new songs!!!! How exciting. It's been almost two years since I was in the studio last, so I'm really looking forward to jumping back in. I learned a lot from recording my first album and I plan on making the second album better.

The music has taken a little bit more influence from rock, but there will still be plenty of singer/songwriter to go around with great hits like One More Time, Pieces of You, Rose Full of Thorns, and the fan favorite Unsung Hero. That's just to name a few. We will have pre-orders from the CD starting sometime later this year. So be on the lookout!

New Album To Be Recorded!

Alright, so the band and i have been hard at work writing new material and rocking out at some great venues. We will be playing the opening Pride Day Festival at Faneuil Hall this year on June 4th so pray for sun!

Anywho, back to the album. I have not decided whether we will have 10 or 11 possibly 12 songs on the album. That really depends on you the fans. You see I have recently applied to Kickstarter.com to raise money for our album project. The more money we raise for this project, the more music we can deliver to your ears. How awesome is that?

We are planning to work with Dennis Carol of 6AV Media. Nothing is set in stone yet, but I have sent a message along to Dennis and he said he would be happy to work with us on this new and amazing project.

I learned a lot recording my first album and know that I can make the second album 10X better than the first. Here is a tentative list of songs that will be on the album:

Latest Album Review

Lauren Bateman has slowly been building a name for herself in and around Boston over the past few years. With a full-length release ready she now sets her aims on the rest of the world.

“I’ve Been Waiting” features fairly simple singer/songwriter tracks that sound very smooth and Bateman’s vocals, though a little nasal at times, are fairly pleasant. The album’s not groundbreaking or anything but keeping in mind it’s a debut album it’s actually a pretty good release.

While the tracks may be fairly simple, the simplicity of the songs actually benefits them. Because Bateman didn’t fall into the trap of trying too much at once she focuses on doing it well. The songs are strong and the lyrics are accessible without becoming too obvious or cliché, which is an accomplishment on itself.

Civil Again was the first song on the album that convinced me as it showed a little more fire than the previous tracks. Beautiful Face and Happy Ever After are pretty good songs. Especially the latter. Very good vocal performance and the arrangement has a couple of subtle, yet strong accents that give the track more power and sincerity.

With Linger and I Gave, Bateman shows a grittier side of herself. With more rock influences these songs have more power and energy and this is the side of Bateman I’d like to hear more in the future. Because the songs have more body they come off more convincingly and the songs benefit from the richer arrangements. Especially I Gave is a very strong track. Probably the strongest track on the album.

The closer Everything’s OK is decent but not the most memorable track on “I’ve Been Waiting”. All in all it’s a debut that shows a lot of promise and with a full band behind her, Bateman could grow out to be an interesting act to follow around. Her vocals have a lot of power and when there’s a little more fire and energy in the songs she allows herself to really get into the music. And those are the moments she excells. With a little more experience and more recordings under her belt I reckon this is only just the beginning for Lauren Bateman.

Way Overdue

Hey everybody how's it going? I am way overdue for a posting here. It really was my New Year's Resolution to keep up with blogging and let everyone know how things are going and I am failing miserably. Hope you can forgive me.

Things have been going great. The band and I are currently writing new material and getting ready to go back into the studio to record a second album. How exciting!

I can't wait to share some of these new songs with you. Any in attendence at the Sally O'brien's show in Somerville a couple week ago would have heard a couple of the new songs, Rose Full of Thorns and Unsung Hero. We got a lot of good response from the audience about these songs. We are really excited to share them with you too.

Sally O's liked us so much that they asked us to cme back. So I'm sure the whole band will be back there soon. Currently we will be playing Church of Boston on April 4th. This will be an earlier show and we will be rocking it out with all the new songs. So half the set is going to be all new songs you have never heard before. It will be a great time.

Musician Full-time!

Wow. Been a while since I posted something on here, but there's a lot going on. Some of you may have caught myself and bassist Felix on WMFO 91.5 Tufts radio. Was a great experience. We had a lot of fun interviewing and playing live on air. We want to thank Jim Carty for having us on air. Make sure to tune into Blues and Beyond on Saturday afternoons. So the BIG news is that after this week I will be a full-time musician. That's right. I am persuing the dream of earning my keep from something I love and enjoy doing so much. There will a lot more shows popping up in different states as well as different cities in MA. So keep you eyes posted on the shows section of the site to see where we will be playing next. Also, if you have been dying to play the guitar or learn how to sing some of your favorite songs, I am offering guitar lessons and voice lesson to those living in the Boston area. Thanks to everyone that came out this past Friday for the CD Release party at Oliver's in the Cask N Flagon, Boston. It was so good seeing everyone and you all helped to make it the biggest and best show we have had to date. Thank you all so much for your support. The band and I had a blast on stage performing for everyone.

This really is the start of a dream come true.

I know we can take this so much further and we would love to have everyone continue on this journey with us. We have a few shows over the summer but be on the lookout for a possible Fall tour and college radio promotion starting in Sept.

We are not done with 2010 yet.

What A New Year!

Well hello everyone. It's been quite a while since I have written here. I hope everyone has been having a great start to their year and that you've all been waiting....for the album of course.

We wrapped things up last night with the mastering. So that's it. After a turbulent and fast paced start to the year, we called it a wrap last night. The album is sounding great. So many cool sounds and the songs have taken on a life of their own. It's really been an amazing process and I want to thank everyone that was a part of it and everyone that helped to support it.

You guys are awesome and I am so blessed to have each and every one of you as fan.

Keep posted for the release and sale of the album next month.

Back from New York City

Hey everyone! Just got back from my debut performance in New York City. Had a blast walking around the streets of Manhattan and visiting the Natural History Museum. I love looking at dinosaurs.

But now I'm back in good ole Boston and that means I'm getting back to recording. My song I've Been Waiting was submitted and is going to be included on the upcoming CD compilation Many Roads From Home. I'm very excited to be a part of this compilation. I've never worked with a team of artists from across the globe before and it's really been a fun experience getting this all together.

We're off and running...well recording

Wow. Lots of things going on now. My trip to Italy was fantastic and now it's back to the drawing board.

The producer and I met last night to go over some pre-production stuff for the upcoming album. We worked on some drum tracks for the title track I've Been Waiting and Everything's OK. Two very high energy songs. Sounds good to have drums behind these songs driving the music.

Needless to say, I will be pretty busy over the next few months working hard on a great album. I will keep you posted on how things are coming along. I do have a few shows this fall so do make sure to come out and say hi.

There is also a new Street Team section of the site for those of you that want to be involved in helping promote my shows and my music. Without your support I would not be where I am today.

New Photos on the site and heading for Italy

Well the new photos for the site are going to be up soon. Very excited. They should be hitting my mailbox at any moment now. So keep checking back as these photos came out great.

I am excited to say that I booked my first show in NYC at the 169 Bar on E. Broadway. I am very excited about this an encourage all NYC fans to stop in and show support. If the night goes well, this will be a great venue for me to keep coming back to in the area. I am very excited about getting my foot into NY.

Other shows are popping up to locally too, so check out the shows section to keep up to date.

I am heading off for Italy this Thursday to go and visit my great uncle that lives in a little village called Castel Baronia. I haven't been to Italy in over 4 years and have not been to Castel Baronia in over 14 years. I am very excited to see how the town has developed. They had just opened there first Lounge/Bar when I left.

There is lots planned for my return including some time in a studio with Andy Bauer at Turn Out Media (www.TurntOutMedia.com). I cannot wait to get started on this project. I have been waiting for this for so long. It is why the album is appropriately titled "I've Been Waiting".

Site is up and running

Well the official site is up and running. Things are looking great. I am really excited about having www.laurenbateman.com up and running. One of those small dreams come true.

New photos will be posted soon. I recently meet up with a brilliant photographer to have some pictures taken and he is working on the final product now. I am very excited to see how they come out. We were also able to take a shot for the album cover. It's all coming together.

I will let you know when the pictures get posted.
