Musician Full-time!

Wow. Been a while since I posted something on here, but there's a lot going on.

Some of you may have caught myself and bassist Felix on WMFO 91.5 Tufts radio. Was a great experience. We had a lot of fun interviewing and playing live on air. We want to thank Jim Carty for having us on air. Make sure to tune into Blues and Beyond on Saturday afternoons.

So the BIG news is that after this week I will be a full-time musician. That's right. I am persuing the dream of earning my keep from something I love and enjoy doing so much. There will a lot more shows popping up in different states as well as different cities in MA. So keep you eyes posted on the shows section of the site to see where we will be playing next.

Also, if you have been dying to play the guitar or learn how to sing some of your favorite songs, I am offering guitar lessons and voice lesson to those living in the Boston area. So if you live in the area and have been dying to learn guitar or how to sing visit Boston Voice and Guitar Lessons and schedule a lesson today.

See you all on the road!

Thank You for an awesome CD Release Party

Thanks to everyone that came out this past Friday for the CD Release party at Oliver's in the Cask N Flagon, Boston. It was so good seeing everyone and you all helped to make it the biggest and best show we have had to date. Thank you all so much for your support. The band and I had a blast on stage performing for everyone.

This really is the start of a dream come true.

I know we can take this so much further and we would love to have everyone continue on this journey with us. We have a few shows over the summer but be on the lookout for a possible Fall tour and college radio promotion starting in Sept.

We are not done with 2010 yet.

Lauren :)

What A New Year!

Well hello everyone. It's been quite a while since I have written here. I hope everyone has been having a great start to their year and that you've all been waiting....for the album of course.

We wrapped things up last night with the mastering. So that's it. After a turbulent and fast paced start to the year, we called it a wrap last night. The album is sounding great. So many cool sounds and the songs have taken on a life of their own. It's really been an amazing process and I want to thank everyone that was a part of it and everyone that helped to support it.

You guys are awesome and I am so blessed to have each and every one of you as fan.

Keep posted for the release and sale of the album next month.

Back from New York City

Hey everyone! Just got back from my debut performance in New York City. Had a blast walking around the streets of Manhattan and visiting the Natural History Museum. I love looking at dinosaurs.

But now I'm back in good ole Boston and that means I'm getting back to recording. My song I've Been Waiting was submitted and is going to be included on the upcoming CD compilation Many Roads From Home. I'm very excited to be a part of this compilation. I've never worked with a team of artists from across the globe before and it's really been a fun experience getting this all together.

Now it's back to recording and prepping for the fundraiser party that's coming up later this month. You can purchase tickets through paypal on my website or use a credit card at www.clubcafe.com.

I'm looking forward to seeing you on the road soon.

Lauren

We're off and running...well recording

Wow. Lots of things going on now. My trip to Italy was fantastic and now it's back to the drawing board.

The producer and I met last night to go over some pre-production stuff for the upcoming album. We worked on some drum tracks for the title track I've Been Waiting and Everything's OK. Two very high energy songs. Sounds good to have drums behind these songs driving the music.

Needless to say, I will be pretty busy over the next few months working hard on a great album. I will keep you posted on how things are coming along. I do have a few shows this fall so do make sure to come out and say hi.

There is also a new Street Team section of the site for those of you that  want to be involved in helping promote my shows and my music. Without your support I would not be where I am today.

Thanks again for all your support.

Lauren

Biography

Boston based singer/songwriter Lauren Bateman’s debut album, I’ve Been Waiting, released this February, is solidifying her role in the Boston Pop/Rock music scene. Lauren jumped into the studio last fall with producer Andy Bauer of Turnt Out Media to record her life’s work, a poignant and optimistic pop/rock collection channeling emotions of love, heartache, anger and redemption found within.

Her oldest song, Linger, was written in the fall of 2003 after Lauren’s first relationship, a long distance relationship, did not work out: “It was a really tough time for me being my first relationship. It was actually the first song I wrote that I thought sounded good.” Other songs like Burning Bridges, a touching acoustic testament to moving on from your past, and Civil Again will move listeners with Lauren’s ability to lyrically portray life.

The most heart-wrenching and deeply emotional song on the album is Guardian Angel, a song that Lauren wrote for her aunt that passed away from pancreatic cancer in April of 2009. The violin and cello work so well to develop a sorrow that transpires into an uplifting crescendo in the chorus. “I just wanted her to know that we would never forget her and that she would always be in our hearts. It’s a very personal song and it touches so many people. I usually always see at least one person crying in teh audience whenever I play that song. Everyone knows someone that’s died of cancer and it’s never an easy thing.”

Lauren shows her edgier side on songs like I Gave and Everything’s OK, which have more of a rock feel to them. The musings of Micheil Boesel, her lead guitarist, gives these tracks real drive while the soft touches of bassist Richard Gentile can be heard on songs like Unsaid, adding an ambient layer that allows you to close you eyes and let the music flow through.

Even with its lower moments, I’ve Been Waiting has an overall pleasant feel to it, which is unusual for Lauren. Songs like Beautiful Face, Happy Ever After, Impossible and the title track are catchy tunes with great beats and an optimisitic feel: “I laughed that my first album turned out to by this overall happy project. I had told Andy [the producer] that if this album had been done 3 years ago it probably would have been an emo album.”

I’ve Been Waiting is definitely not a dark album and is very appropriately titled, as it is the culmination of all Lauren has worked for so far in life. “There are not very many things I want in life. I wanted to record an album to share my music with people and I wanted to be happy and be in love. And after years and years of waiting and many ups and down, I finally got what I was looking for.”

Look for the release of I’ve Been Waiting early in 2010.
